9 official solo albums, several side projects and a Best of, and fans including authors Ian Rankin and Irvine Welsh, and Bob Harris (BBC).

Dean's new album is Pictures, recorded long distance with Neilson Hubbard and Will Kimbrough.

His previous 2 albums (Sinner's Shrine and El Tiradito) were recorded with desert noir/Latin rock icons CALEXICO in Tucson AZ. Tales of love and lust, sinners and saints, the displaced, the wanderers and the border ghosts. And a Morricone inspired instrumental side.

While never losing his own unique Scottish identity, Dean has had a longstanding love affair with the USA since his early days as front man of alt-country band the Felsons, recording most of his solo albums there.

Side projects include Buffalo Blood, described by BBC’s Paul Sexton as “a US/UK Americana supergroup”, recorded on location in the New Mexico desert with Neilson Hubbard, Audrey Spillman and Joshua Britt.
With special guest Philp "The Meerkat" Cardwell on trumpet.
