Album - Release Date: 16/10/26 - Black Vinyl

Genre: Jazz/Soul

Frank Foster recorded The Loud Minority for Bob Shad’s Mainstream Records in 1972, assembling a formidable band including Elvin Jones, Stanley Clarke, Airto, Cecil Bridgewater, Marvin ‘Hannibal’ Peterson and Dee Dee Bridgewater. Cut live over two days, its four extended pieces mix hard-driving jazz-funk, spiritual jazz and political protest, led by the 14-minute title track and Bridgewater’s fiery civil rights poem. Elsewhere, ‘Requiem for Dusty’, ‘J.P.’s Thing’ and ‘E.W. Beautiful People’ move between punchy brass, Fender Rhodes, soprano sax and expansive ensemble improvisation.
