They said it could never be done. And with good reason. We've spent the past 12 years trying to license this legendary 1968 recording from Gap and, after much work, it's finally here. Be With Records present the first-ever vinyl reissue of Gap Mangione’s Diana In The Autumn Wind, a rare and much-coveted 1968 jazz-funk album long prized by collectors and hip-hop producers.
An exceedingly rare album, it's been coveted by funk, soul, jazz and hip-hop sample fiends for decades. It's unarguably *the* most sought after album for J Dilla / Madlib sample collectors. It has also been brilliantly sampled by A Tribe Called Quest, Large Professor, Ghostface Killah, Kendrick Lamar and Talib Kweli.
Far more than a sampling source, the record is a vibrant set of funky jazz led by Mangione’s piano, organ and electric piano. The trio is anchored by a young Tony Levin on bass and Steve Gadd on drums, whose inventive playing drives the album’s intricate grooves, while conga player Dhui Mandingo adds further rhythmic colour.
Arranged with help from Mangione’s brother Chuck Mangione, the music blends jazz, rock and Brazilian influences into a rich, cohesive sound. Produced with Gap Mangione’s full involvement, this long-awaited reissue brings an influential and elusive album back into circulation.

For UK deliveries, please allow up to 7 business days for delivery; expected delivery usually between 3 - 5 days. Delivery outside of the UK may take longer, please allow up to 15 business days for delivery; expected delivery is between 5 - 10 days.
We only do Signed deliveries for domestic UK orders, and Tracked deliveries for international orders with Royal Mail to ensure safe and quicker delivery of your orders.
