Oysterband & June Tabor - Freedom & Rain

1LP - Clear & Black Smoke Vinyl

Rediscover the powerful fusion of folk and rock of Freedom and Rain - the critically acclaimed collaboration between folk legend June Tabor and Oysterband. Originally released in 1990, this seminal album has been a touchstone in the British folk-rock scene, blending Tabor's haunting vocals with Oysterband's approach to traditional music. Now, for the first time in years, Freedom and Rain is available in a limited edition Clear and Black smoke LP and CD.

Freedom and Rain is a masterclass in genre-blending, where traditional folk tunes are given new life alongside contemporary covers, all imbued with raw emotional intensity. Songs like "All Tomorrow’s Parties" (a striking cover of the Velvet Underground classic) and the poignant "Dark Eyed Sailor" showcase the seamless collaboration between Tabor's evocative voice and the band’s powerful instrumentation. This reissue is more than just a nostalgia trip - it's a timeless collection that resonates just as strongly today. Freedom and Rain made a significant impact on the UK Folk Charts, reaching #1 and staying there for several weeks, earning the album a place among the most respected folk records of the era. It also garnered a strong following across Europe and North America, where the blend of traditional and modern sounds struck a chord with a diverse audience.

This reissue is a must-have for folk enthusiasts and collectors, bringing back to life a classic album that continues to inspire and move listeners. Whether on vinyl or CD, Freedom and Rain remains a powerful testament to the enduring strength of British folk music.
